Guides written for the person holding a hook for the first time.
Hi, I'm Nora — I got tired of crochet advice that assumes you already know what "hdc" means.

Why I started this
Most crochet content online is written by experienced crocheters, for other experienced crocheters. That's great if you already know the basics — and frustrating if you're the person trying to figure out why your first swatch looks nothing like the photo.
I started CrochetGuides to close that gap: plain-language guides that explain the "why" behind hook sizes, yarn weights, and pattern shorthand, not just the "what." I've been teaching crochet for 12 years, and I still remember exactly which parts were confusing at the start.
How I pick products
When I recommend a hook, a skein of yarn, or a book, I'm looking for one thing: would this genuinely help someone who's just starting out. I favour widely available, well-reviewed options over expensive or niche gear, because the biggest risk for a beginner isn't buying the "wrong" premium hook — it's spending too much before knowing if the craft is for them.
